Kennewick, WA – Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has added Curtis Brown and Mike Green to the team’s scouting staff for the upcoming 2013-14 season.  Brown’s coverage area will be in Northern California and the NAPHL, watching the Bantam and Midget levels.  Green, based in Calgary, Alberta, will keep his eyes on Bantam, Midget, Junior A and WHL games.

Brown, a 12-year NHL veteran with Buffalo and San Jose, played four WHL seasons with the Moose Jaw Warriors and Prince Albert Raiders.  He combined to play in 257 WHL games, collecting 123 goals and 269 points.  Following his WHL stint, the 1994 2nd round (43rd overall) pick by the Sabres went on to play in 736 NHL games, notching 129 goals and 300 points.  After playing three years in Switzerland, the Unity, Saskatchewan native retired from playing after the 2010-11 season and will now take his first step into scouting.

Meanwhile, Green was a member of Tory’s 1999-00 WHL Champion Kootenay Ice team that capped a four-year WHL career.  In all, Green appeared in 218 WHL games, collecting 93 goals and 215 points.  After his time in the WHL was done, Green spent the next four seasons jumping between the AHL, ECHL and UHL, before spending the 2003-04 season with the NHL’s Florida Panthers and New York Rangers.  In all, Green played in 24 NHL games, notching a goal and four points along the way.  With the 2004-05 NHL season lost to a lockout, Green went and played in Germany, where he played five of his final six playing seasons before retiring after the 2009-10 season.  Green appeared in 239 games while in Germany, totaling 66 goals and 173 points.

“We are excited to expand our staff with former players who had tremendous WHL and professional careers,” explained Tory.  “These guys played the game hard and were leaders wherever they played.  We look forward to their contributions to our hockey club.”
