Americans Announce 2011-12 Pre-Season Schedule

KENNEWICK, WA – Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory, along with the Western Hockey League, unveiled today the team’s 2011-12 pre-season schedule.  For Tri-City, the 2011 exhibition season is, once again, highlighted by two separate tournament appearances, as well as two additional pre-season contests for a total of seven exhibition games leading into the franchise’s 24th season in the Mid-Columbia.

The Americans will start the pre-season portion of their schedule by participating in the 8th annual Everett Silvertips Pre-Season Tournament, scheduled from Sept. 2-4 at Comcast Arena.  It will be the franchise’s fifth consecutive trip to the Silvertips’ tournament.  While there, Tri-City will match-up against their U.S. Division rivals, the Portland Winterhawks, as well as the tournament hosts, Everett Silvertips.

Tri-City then returns home to host the Red Lion Hotels Pre-Season Tournament, scheduled for Sept. 8-10 at the Toyota Center in Kennewick.  The Tournament will again feature a Thursday evening game as well a three-game per day schedule on Friday and Saturday.  This year’s tournament will feature the host Americans, their four U.S. Division rivals (Everett, Portland, Seattle and Spokane) as well as the defending WHL Champion Kootenay Ice.

The Americans will then wrap-up their portion of the pre-season schedule with two exhibition games against the Spokane Chiefs.  On Thursday, Sept. 15, the Americans will travel to Spokane before the Chiefs visit the Toyota Center on Saturday, Sept. 17.  Saturday’s game time is 7:05 p.m.  Pricing for the game against Spokane on 9/17/10 is value priced at a flat rate of $7.  To view the WHL Pre-Season Schedule in its entirety, visit www.whl.ca.
