Americans Re-Assign Dallman, Two Others as Season Draws NearSep 10, 2013 - 03:37 PDT
Kennewick, WA - Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has reassigned overage forward Tyson Dallman, and prospects Austyn Playfair and Maxwell James. The move is effective immediately and reduces the club roster to 30 players (18 forwards, 9 defensemen and 3 goaltenders).
Dallman, a 20-year-old from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, spent the past two seasons with the Americans, appearing in 88 games while totaling 3 goals, 15 points and 80 penalty minutes. Originally listed by Tri-City in October of 2010, Dallman made his WHL debut on December 10, 2010 vs. Seattle. Dallman, who also played in all 15 of Tri-City’s post-season games since 2012, has been re-assigned to the West Kelowna Warriors of the British Columbia Junior Hockey League.
Meanwhile, Playfair, a 16-year-old center from Scottsdale, Arizona, will be heading back to the Phoenix Jr. Coyotes of the Tier 1 Elite League. Last season with the Jr. Coyotes, Playfair compiled 4 goals, 11 points and 16 penalty minutes. Playfair, the son of current Phoenix Coyotes’ Associate Coach, Jim Playfair, was originally listed by Tri-City last October, and then was signed to a standard WHL Players Contract on August 26. In that time, Playfair has appeared in two pre-season games, picking up a goal on September 5 vs. Kootenay.
James, a native of Kamloops, British Columbia, appeared in four games for the Americans this pre-season, going without a point while collecting four penalty minutes in the process. The 16-year-old left wing was originally drafted by Tri-City in the 6th round (131st overall) in the 2012 Bantam Draft, and then was signed to a standard WHL Players Contract on August 27. James, a 6’3 215-pound forward, spent last season with Thompson Blazers Midget AAA of the BCMML while registering 4 goals, 12 points and 69 penalty minutes, and will spend the 2013-14 season with the Kamloops Storm of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League.
The Americans will wrap-up the pre-season portion of their schedule this week, as they travel to Cheney, Washington to face-off against the Spokane Chiefs (2-2-0-1). Then, on Saturday, September 14, the Chiefs will return to Kennewick for their final pre-season tune-up at the Toyota Center. Game time is 7:05 p.m. for both contests. Tickets are on sale for Saturday’s game through all Ticketmaster outlets, including at the Toyota Center box office, all Fred Meyer locations, and online at ticketmaster.com.
