Americans Release 2013-14 Pre-Season Schedule

Jun 25, 2013 - 03:17 PDT

Kennewick, WA – Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory, along with the Western Hockey League, unveiled today the team’s 2013-14 pre-season schedule.  For Tri-City, the 2013 exhibition season is, once again, highlighted by two separate tournament appearances, as well as two additional pre-season contests for a total of eight exhibition games leading into the franchise’s 26th season in the Mid-Columbia.

The Americans will start the pre-season portion of their schedule by participating in the 10th annual Everett Silvertips Pre-Season Tournament, scheduled from August 30 to September 1 at Comcast Arena.  It will be the franchise’s seventh consecutive trip to the Silvertips’ tournament.  While there, Tri-City will match-up against their U.S. Division rivals, the Portland Winterhawks and Seattle Thunderbirds, as well as tournament newcomer, the Victoria Royals.

Tri-City then returns home to host the 2013 Red Lion Hotels Pre-Season Tournament, scheduled for September 5-7 at the Toyota Center in Kennewick.  The Tournament will again feature a Thursday evening game as well as a three-game per day schedule on Friday and Saturday.  This year’s tournament will feature the host Americans, their four U.S. Division rivals (Everett, Portland, Seattle and Spokane) as well as the Central Division’s Kootenay Ice.

The Americans will then wrap-up their portion of the pre-season schedule with two exhibition games, featuring a home-and-home series with the Spokane Chiefs.  First, on Wednesday, September 11, the Americans will head north for a pre-season match-up with the Chiefs.  Then, on Saturday, September 14, Tri-City and Spokane will wrap-up the exhibition schedule at the Toyota Center.  Saturday’s exhibition game time is 7:05 p.m.  Pricing for the exhibition game against Spokane is value priced at a general admission rate of only $8.  To view the 2013 WHL Pre-Season Schedule in its entirety, visit www.whl.ca.
