Eric Comrie, Americans Re-Launch ‘Comrie Saves Hunger’ Drive

Kennewick, WA - Eric Comrie has, once again, teamed up with 2nd Harvest Tri-Cities to officially re-launch the ‘Comrie Saves Hunger’ campaign.

Launched last season, and designed to help raise money and awareness for 2nd Harvest Tri-Cities, Eric will donate 50 cents out of his own pocket to 2nd Harvest Tri-Cities for every save he makes during a home game this season.  As of today, Comrie has stopped 286 shots through 10 home games this season, bringing the current donation amount to $143.  Additionally, the Tri-City Americans have opted to match Eric’s donations dollar for dollar.  Last season, Eric helped generate $522 and over 1,000 pounds of food through the Kadlec Regional Medical Center Food and Book Drives.

As a kick-off to the event, Comrie, along with 13 other teammates will head out to 2nd Harvest tomorrow, Wednesday, November 20, where they will all help sort food for distribution throughout the Inland Northwest.  The Americans will be at 2nd Harvest’s new building out at 5825 Burlington Loop in Pasco from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

“Every day I get to come home to a nice warm meal and some people don’t have that privilege,” Comrie said. “We have so much to give that we should support those less fortunate than us.”

Fans are encouraged to join the cause by making cash donations to 2nd Harvest to help raise additional funds. Fans can also donate online by visiting the 2nd Harvest website at www.2-harvest.org.

“Second Harvest’s food bank network is responding to unprecedented need for food assistance,” stated Jean Tucker, Development Manager for Second Harvest Tri-Cities.  “We are deeply grateful to the Tri-City Americans, and the community, for their donations, which will help feed hungry families this holiday season.”

Additionally, the Comrie Saves Hunger drive will, again, be woven into the monthly Kadlec Regional Medical Center Book and Food Drive games. There are five more games where fans can bring non-perishable food items and new or gently used children’s books to donate at the games. Proceeds will benefit The Children’s Reading Foundation of the Mid-Columbia and 2nd Harvest Tri-Cities. During each game, for every item they donate that night, all donors will be entered to win a Kindle Tablet, courtesy of Kadlec Regional Medical Center. The next Food/Book Drive scheduled for this Friday, November 22 vs. Kelowna.
