Tri-City comes back to the states after a road trip to Eastern Canada, where they were 5-0-1-0. Their only loss was an overtime loss to Saskatoon. Eric Comrie picked up his second shutout of the season at Moose Jaw, and is now tied fifth on the all-time Americans shutout list. Connor Rankin and Lucas Nickles were on fire during the trip, with Rankin racking up five goals and an assist and Nickles totaling three goals and three assists. Seattle comes off a loss against Portland last Saturday, as Luke Lockhart scored the first and only goal of the game for Seattle. This is the first of nine meetings between the two teams this year. Last season, Tri-City dominated Seattle, winning nine of 10 meetings. Tri-City lost the first meeting of the year in Seattle 3-0 on Nov. 18, but won the next nine including all five meetings at home. The Americans outscored the Thunderbirds 42-17 in those nine games. Brendan Shinnimin had 11 goals and 14 assists as the top scorer against Seattle last season, while Luke Lockhart was the highest scorer against the Americans with two goals and three assists.
Players to Watch
RW Branden Troock: The fifth round pick of the Dallas Stars in in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft has two points in three games in October.
D Shea Theodore: One of the top WHL prospects in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, he has three goals and three assists this season, including two goals and an assist in a home win against Everett.
G Eric Comrie: Comrie has been lights out in the net, allowing 11 goals in six games on the Eastern Canada road trip, including the shutout of Moose Jaw on Oct. 14.
LW Jesse Mychan: Mychan came back from an injury during the Canadian road trip and produced five assists in six games, including three against Brandon in the 4-3 win.
Keys to the Game
Momentum: The Americans bring an 8-0-1-1 record into this game in the month of October. The Americans have built up momentum during the eight game road trip going 7-0-1-0, giving the team confidence heading into their eighth straight road game. Seattle has lost two straight, giving the Thunderbirds negative momentum heading into this game.
Rookie Play: Alexander Delnov leads the Thunderbirds in scoring with nine points and if fourth in the league in rookie scoring. Parker Bowles leads Americans rookies with five points. Seattle has had a lot of contribution from their rookies, totaling 20 points compared to the Americans 10.
