Tri-City Herald: Spokane notches 6-0 win over Tri-City to clinch fourth place

By Annie Fowler | Tri-City Herald

Carter Proft scored two goals and Eric Williams finished with 20 saves for his fourth shutout this season in leading the Spokane Chiefs to a 6-0 victory over the Tri-City Americans before a sold-out crowd Friday night at Spokane Arena.

With the win, the Chiefs (43-25-2-0, 88 points) secured fourth place in the Western Conference standings.

The Americans (40-26-1-3, 84 points), who have lost three in a row, will be the fifth seed in the playoffs.

Tri-City hosts Spokane today and will close out the regular season Sunday at Everett.

Friday, Spokane led just 1-0 at the end of the first period off a goal by Alessio Bertaggia. The Americans had three quality chances, including a short-handed breakaway by Justin Feser, but could not get anything past Williams.
